Sivenathi Special Care Cente - struggling to survive

Loading player...
Sivenathi Special Care Centre operates from the Fort Beaufort Golf Course in Raymond Mhlaba, Eastern Cape. Their aim is to provide a safe and caring environment for severely and profoundly intellectually disabled children. Social worker Noluthandathu Gara joined Kaycee for this week's cares to talk about their desperate need for assistance.

Most of the children currently in our care were found in a serious state of neglect. Others were abandoned by their biological parents and were left at our facility, their parent’s whereabouts are unknown. Deserted by their parents due to their condition of health, their social welfare allowances are often mismanaged by their relatives. The children who come to us are often also victims of abuse by family members. Our facility caters for a total of 36 children with severe disabilities.
