The Boksburg man travelling from South Africa to Italy to raise awareness around mental health says since setting off almost 2 weeks ago he’s learnt of 11 more suicides here at home.
Martin Van der Vyver has already covered 5 000km on his motorbike on his mission to destigmatize depression and start vital conversations – particularly among men.
The voyage is also in loving memory of his friend Brian, who died by suicide in February.
