The Angler News team has delivered exactly what we predicted: a plethora of fish. Despite challenging conditions in recent weeks, such as strong winds and rain, dedicated rock and surf anglers have been rewarded with impressive catches. Offshore anglers, too, have had exciting encounters with bottom fish, while the early game fish season has them preparing for action. Freshwater anglers braved the freezing Midlands conditions and boasted about their success, landing everything from big bass to trout. Meanwhile, spearfishing enthusiasts faced hurdles due to rough waters. Listen now for more on our predictions, including an action-packed weekend targeting non-edible species in Durban Basin and what essentials to carry if you’re fishing along the coastline.

Offshore: Fishing has been highly productive offshore, with most regions yielding good catches. Remember, safety should always be your top priority, especially with the rough seas recently.

Rock and Surf: Like offshore fishing, conditions have been challenging, but summer fish are now appearing more regularly. Head to your favourite spot as soon as you can!

Harbour: Durban Harbour has been a hotspot, with incredible catches over the past few weeks. Springer, oxeye tarpon, big grunter, and a variety of kingfish species have all been landed.

Freshwater: The freshwater scene has seen a good mix across all facets. Carp anglers, both specimen and conventional, have reported great catches. Bass fishermen have landed some beasts, and fly anglers have been spoilt with trout and scalies. It's a fantastic time for freshwater fishing!
