Parliamentary Committee Considers Legal Action Against University of Limpopo

Loading player...
The Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Higher Education is taking steps to force the University of Limpopo (UL) to answer questions and comply with a summons issued to its management. Committee chairman Tebogo Letsie has reached out to the speaker of the National Assembly, Thoko Didiza, for advice on how to proceed with opening criminal cases against UL’s leadership. The issue began in November 2024, when UL appeared before the Portfolio Committee to discuss its governance, administration, teaching, and learning. Due to time limits, not all questions were answered during the meeting. The committee asked UL to provide additional responses and supporting documents afterward. However, the university failed to deliver this information. Phemelo speaks to Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Higher Education, Tebogo Letsie.
