Central Nairobi was left in ruins on Thursday as buildings smouldered and shop owners sifted through charred debris following a night of looting and arson. The violence erupted after youth-led demonstrations turned deadly – According to Amnesty Kenya 16 people have been killed. Thousands marched Wednesday to honor victims of past protests and to demand justice for blogger Albert Ojwang, who died after alleged police brutality. Clashes broke out nationwide, with police using tear gas and water cannons. The unrest echoes last year's deadly Gen Z-led protests over proposed tax hikes that claimed over 60 lives. Phemelo speaks to SABC Channel Africa Correspondent in Kenya, Luke Wasike for the latest.
