70th Anniversary of the Freedom Charter
The YCLSA Gauteng Province joins the people of South Africa in commemorating the 70th anniversary of the Congress of the People in 1955 and the adoption of the Freedom Charter. We remain steadfast in our commitment to campaigning for the full implementation of the Freedom Charter’s vision and principles, to ensure the total emancipation of the working class in South Africa.
Youth development and Struggle against Heartland Capitalist Mode of Production
The 7th YCLSA Gauteng Provincial Congress noted that Gauteng remains at the epicenter of capitalist mode of production which is deepening contradictions, Gauteng as a province generates over 33% of national Gross Domestic Products (GDP) while youth unemployment in Gauteng Province as per Stats SA quarterly reporting a rate of 46.1% in the first quarter and youth not in Employment, Education or Training (NEET) is sitting at 37.1% this is a crystal clear indication that Gauteng exceeds 60% of unemployment, particularly heartrending the working class and the poor.
The 7th Provincial Congress calls upon the Premier of the Gauteng Province Cde Panyaza Lesufi to speedily resolve the unemployment crises through:
• Agitate for state-led industrialization
• Build and scale youth cooperatives
• Expand public works programmes with dignified wages
• Campaign for radical, socialist-rooted skills development
• Insource all cleaners and security in all the department
• Establishing a National Youth Employment Grant funded by wealth taxes.

• Building a 24-hour, people – centered economy as a revolutionary response to the structural crisis of Youth unemployment – a crisis rooted in capitalist exclusion and neoliberal austerity that continues to marginalize the working-class youth of our Province.
• Indeed, under capitalism, the state machinery complements corruption through bribes, patronage networks, and the tenderization of basic services. It is within this context that we reject the tender system, which enriches a few individuals at the expense of the collective. Instead, we call for a scrapping of tenders in favour of progressive youth led cooperatives which foster community empowerment and equitable infrastructure development.
sacrifice; qualities essential for serving the people, defending, deepening and advancing the NDR.
Ignorance of Marxism opens the door to opportunism, revisionism, and eventual betrayal of the revolution. Political education, therefore, serves as a shield against rightist deviations and ensures unwavering commitment to the revolutionary line. It becomes the glue that binds the organisation together, strengthening its unity and discipline. A politically educated membership is vital to maintaining the ideological integrity and organisational strength of the YCLSA.
