Gauteng’s R67 Billion Health Boost: Faster Service, Better Hospitals

Gauteng’s health system is set for a major upgrade with a R67 billion budget for the 2025/26 financial year. MEC Nomantu Nkomo-Ralehoko says the funds will tackle hospital backlogs, improve infrastructure, and reduce waiting times. R1.7 billion is dedicated to hospital upgrades, including R100 million for revamping laundry services and operating theatres, with work already started at Carletonville and Bheki Mlangeni hospitals.
