Ahneesh (Taare Dance) with Janet

Ahneesh Valodia is the founder, artistic director, and resident choreographer of Taare, a Cape Town-based Indian dance troupe known for its dynamic fusion of Bollywood, classical, and contemporary dance. A self-taught Bollywood dancer and trained Kathak artist, Ahneesh has spent over a decade using performance as a platform for cultural expression, youth development, and storytelling. Despite being diagnosed with Muscular Dystrophy in his teens, he transitioned from performer to choreographer, continuing to lead with creativity and passion from behind the scenes.

Under his direction, Taare has staged 11 original productions, including Kismet, a bold Bollywood reinterpretation of Romeo and Juliet, captivating audiences locally and globally. His work celebrates Indian heritage while championing inclusivity and reimagining tradition for new generations.
