Noah Mears & Gibson Burke Join Mark Creter To Discuss Being Local Film Makers

Mark Creter sits down with self-taught filmmakers Noah Mears and Gibson Berke, a creative duo making waves in the Upper Cumberland film scene. Though they’ve only been working together a short time, they’ve already produced several short films and one feature, with another — Before Hollywood Calls — on the way. Noah, who originally set out to write scripts in college, met Gibson after asking him to act in a project, and the two quickly hit their stride, shooting in local spots like Spankee’s Bar in Cookeville just hours before it opened. They talk candidly about the challenges of being self-taught, from figuring out camera setups to managing production logistics without formal training, and highlight the importance of community, saying, “It takes a village.” Gibson praises Noah’s directing but calls his writing “top tier,” and the two hint at their next film — one that will feature only three locations and continue pushing their creative limits.
