Taxi boss gunned down in Alexandra

A hail of bullets shattered the calm in Alexandra on Thursday when Victor Molefe Moekeletsi, chairperson of the Alexandra, Randburg, Midrand and Sandton Taxi Association (Armsta), was shot dead alongside his bodyguard. Police say gunmen in a BMW X5 opened fire on Moekeletsi’s convoy on 8th Street in Marlboro, killing two and wounding several others. Two civilians were also injured when their car collided with the victims’ Audi during the chaos. The suspects’ vehicle was later found abandoned nearby. Authorities believe the shooting is taxi violence–related, Moekeletsi himself survived a previous ambush in 2019, the same year he became Armsta chair following the murders of his predecessors. Phemelo speak to Kaya News Reporter Pontsho Motsepe who was on the scene.
