Rodney Trudgeon’s first guest on People of Note for 2017 is the South African composer Hendrik Hofmeyr who turns 60 in 2017. Professor Hofmeyr has been called South Africa’s most performed composer and the most commissioned composer living in South Africa. He currently holds the post of Professor and Head of Composition and Theory at the University of Stellenbosch and has received numerous awards including two major international awards – the Queen Elisabeth of Belgium Competition and the Dimitris Mitropoulos Competition in Athens, among others.
