Spier Arts Trusts build contemporary art collections for patron partners, enabling an ecosystem of career development opportunities for professional fine artists in South Africa. The projects allow artists to focus on their careers full time, to create works with integrity.
With over 17 500 creative blocks purchased, The Creative Block is one of the projects, administered by Spier Arts Trust: The Creative Block is an opportunity available to South African-based artists which provides a fun platform for experimentation, with many emerging and establishes artists continuing to participate. Selected artists are provided with blank blocks of set sizes to be transformed in any media.
The creative block project creates a platform where artists from diverse backgrounds are brought together and exposed to one another's styles and stories, enriching the time spent together with cultural discourse and collaboration.
