"We have set a deadline for all provinces that by mid-November they must have filled all their vacant positions. They have 2 weeks to make sure that all the funded vacant positions for Social Workers are filled" - Deputy Minister Hendrietta Bogopane-Zulu.

Almost every month Social Worker issues are raised on Social Media, they never really trend but Social Workers are consistent in voicing their concerns about their unhappiness when it comes how they feel the government overlooks them.

The Deputy Minister of the Department of Social Development presented to the Portfolio Committee about the challenges that the department faces with regards to employing more social workers. She touched the challenges faced by different provinces and said that Limpopo’s challenges included an expansion of services but a lack of managers and supervisors for VEP and Social Crime Prevention as well as Child Protection Services.

DJ Compleion and Mpho Mashita talked to the Deputy Minister about this challenge. Catch up on this conversation between the #OnTheGoBreakfast Team and Hendrietta Bogopane-Zulu the Deputy Minister of the Department of Social Development.
