Finance Minister Tito Mboweni tabled his Mid Term Budget Speech on Thursday (28 October 2020) and he announced that government is looking at freezing public servants pay increases for the net 3 years. He also mentioned a proposal of a 1.8% increase in the public sector wage bill for 2020-21 financial year but highlighted that they’ll be meeting with the PSA (Public Service Unions) to discuss a way forward.

On the other hand, The World Bank has told government to cut its wage bill to qualify for a $2 billion loan. Mpho Mashita and DJ Complexion talked to the Public Sector Association in Limpopo to get their reaction of the Mid Term Budget Statement.
